CUSTOM DESIGNS

Designs will not be shared in advance. Please be confident in your tattoo concept before booking. We will review the design(s) at the start of your appointment. We can make minor adjustments as needed, but major changes from your initial request or a full redraw may result in the project being rescheduled and forfeiture of the booking fee. If you are uncomfortable proceeding to deposit payment without seeing a design beforehand, I suggest waiting to book or continuing your search for an artist who better suits your needs.

Often I will provide a few options, and/or complete a design to 70 - 90%, leaving room for collaboration on the last details, final composition, amount of shading, etc. I want us to be on the same page, and even more so I want for you to love your tattoo to the fullest extent possible. In order to do so, please expect a few moments of conversation in the lobby to finalize the design before we jump into the actual tattoo process.

NONREFUNDABLE DEPOSIT

This initial investment is to secure your calendar date and my design time.

The deposit does count toward the overall price and will be applied at our last session together. That means if we need multiple sessions for any reason, the deposit would “roll” to hold the next scheduled calendar date. The deposit would be applied at the second, third, etc. appointment instead of the initially booked appointment.

This deposit is valid only for the custom project(s) initially submitted. An exception to this is if you find a flash design during your appointment that you’d love to own permanently. In which case, the deposit will not be applied toward your custom piece but will roll to secure that flash design and hold the next calendar date. This is how many clients tend to stay on the calendar!

No new custom projects will be accepted until the next round of booking. Deciding to switch your initially scheduled custom appointment to an entirely new concept will result in forfeiture of the deposit and denial of the new project.

LATE ARRIVALS AND RESCHEDULING

I understand that circumstances arise. If you need to cancel or reschedule, and at least 72 hours’ notice is provided, your deposit will be held for one future appointment. The client must confirm the new reschedule date offered within 7 days of the cancellation before the deposit is considered forfeit.

Failure to provide sufficient notice will result in forfeiture of the booking fee.

  • A minimum of 72 hours’ notice is required to reschedule.

  • Arrivals more than 10 minutes late will result in cancellation and forfeiture of the booking fee. Artists maintain tight schedules and cannot accommodate tardiness. This policy is strict and non-negotiable.

  • A no call no show, without a valid explanation/apology afterwards, results in being red listed from booking again. Please do not disrespect my time and take away opportunities from others.

In the event of a true emergency, please email scaktats@gmail.com immediately. One reschedule and roll of the deposit may be honored at my discretion.

MEDICAL CONDITIONS

Clients with medical conditions that may affect tattooing or healing must obtain a medical release signed by a physician prior to the appointment. This includes, but is not limited to, Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes.

Please email scaktats@gmail.com to request a medical release before booking or to receive a list of conditions requiring clearance. Patch tests are available for allergy concerns.

We cannot tattoo clients who are

  • Taking Accutane or Spironolactone (must wait 1 year or longer after discontinuation)

  • Pregnant or nursing (per Ohio law)

  • Have received a covid-19 vaccine within two weeks prior to the appointment (may impact ink retention)

Clients with upcoming or recent medical procedures must also obtain clearance if healing may be affected. It is the client’s responsibility to disclose all medical concerns prior to booking.

NUMBING PRODUCTS

Use of numbing cream or topical anesthetics is not permitted without prior approval.

I do not appreciate dishonesty, so if it comes to my attention that you arrive having applied numbing products without prior approval, you will be sent home and your booking fee will be forfeited. These products can alter skin texture, impact ink retention, and increase medical liability. Lidocaine misuse may cause serious adverse effects. The quality of your healing may be degraded.

It is my preference that you do not use numbing products. You will be offered several breaks, as well as witch hazel for a natural way to cool and calm the skin. Any size piece can be split across multiple sessions to accommodate pain tolerance at no extra charge.

SKIN CONDITION REQUIREMENT

Your skin must be in healthy condition to be tattooed. Please consider hydrating and moisturizing the week leading up to your appointment. Tattoo artists cannot work over rashes, burns, bruises, cuts, sunburns, peeling skin, acne outbreaks, or other skin damage.

If you arrive with compromised skin in the area to be tattooed, your appointment will be cancelled, or rescheduled with a new deposit payment. Please notify us of any concerns prior to your appointment to avoid forfeiture of your deposit.

IDENTIFICATION REQUIREMENT

The State of Ohio requires a valid, unexpired, government-issued photo ID for every tattoo service. This includes a State ID, Driver’s License, Passport, Passport Card, or Military ID.

No digital or electronic forms of ID are accepted. No minors. No exceptions.

GUESTS

Due to limited space, guests are discouraged. If emotional support is needed, one guest may accompany you. Additional guests will be asked to leave and may return after your appointment.

REFUSAL OF SERVICE

We reserve the right to refuse or discontinue service at any time. You will be asked to leave if you are perceived to be intoxicated, bring a minor child or pet, or behave in a rude, disruptive, hateful, threatening or violent manner. Sexual comments or advances will not be tolerated. In any such cases, your booking fee will be forfeited, you will be red listed from booking again and your tattoo may be left unfinished.
